Start Small

Okay, so if you’ve ever been to the jungle or the rainforest or are just Indiana Jones, you may have used a mosquito net before. The crazy thing about mosquito nets is that the holes of the mosquito net are bigger than the mosquito’s body. A mosquito could crawl through but can’t because it doesn’t know how to fold its wings and crawl through a hole bigger than its body. In this Sunday’s…

Yes To God

So, very often in the Old Testament, this is what happens. A prophet speaks to a group of people, calling them to turn back to the Lord. And what does the group of people do? They say no! They reject God, and bad things happen. They dig a hole that they cannot get out of. But the fantastic thing about the first reading for this Sunday is that Jonah, a prophet, speaks to the people of Nineveh, calling them to repent and…

Stop Social Climbing

Stop social climbing. That should be the tagline for this Sunday’s gospel. Jesus is saying that, trying to gain social status, trying to reach the highest seat, which we will never truly satisfy. Jesus is saying, Your identity is in me. When we forget about our identity in Jesus, that’s when we try to gain status. That’s when we try to find love in all of the wrong places. The Saints Project

Photographer Kristyn Brown was born and raised in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over time, she began shooting professionally in Los Angeles, California. After six years on the west coast, Kristyn and her family moved back to Philadelphia, where she started The Saints Project – A Modern Portrayal of Catholic Saints. In 2015, she was contacted by The World Meeting of Families to create custom banners for the youth congress portion of the event. Since then, she has created over 80 images of Saints and the Holy Family in modern times.

Unoffendable

A Google review was left for me on my old parish’s website, and the Google Review said I avoid his masses. In the first reading for this Sunday, the apostles are called to go out and proclaim the good news to the world, and if they are rejected or persecuted, they shake the dust from their feet, not becoming…

Holy Fear

It’s getting close to Halloween. Let’s talk about fear, and I’m not talking about the “It’s a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” kind of fear. I’m talking about the virtue of holy fear, that in the gospel for this Sunday, it says that the judge did not fear God, and that’s a bad thing, and it’s not being scared of God, he’s going to come and smite me…
