Okay, guys, you have to check out this photo. This photo was taken in 1974 of a little boy named Harold. Harold could not hear anything, so doctors placed a hearing aid in his ear, which is the reaction of Harold hearing sound for the first time. And this picture is so moving, but what we hear in the gospel for this Sunday is even more moving and more incredible. Jesus Christ takes a deaf man away from the crowd, and Jesus heals this deaf man. So, for the deaf man, for the first time in his whole life, the first sound he hears is God’s voice.
At every moment of your life, Jesus wants to speak words of love, adoration, gentleness, and healing upon you. Don’t be distracted. Get close to the Lord, and especially this week, take time to go away with Jesus for a while so he can remind you who you are. This is Spirit Juice, peace.

Guard Your Time Well
So in the gospel today, a sower goes out to sow, and the sower throws seed down on the thorny ground, and the thorns choke the seeds so the seeds do not flourish. We are often thrown onto the thorny ground, and busyness is one of the big things that really chokes us. Busyness in our lives chokes our relationship with Jesus, and we do not…

Do Nothing Out of Vainglory
What do all of these characters have in common? Gaston, Mr. Darcy, Regina George, Gilderoy Lockhart. These characters do precisely the opposite of what St. Paul asks of us. Do nothing out of selfishness and vainglory. St. Thomas Aquinas says that vainglory is the excessive need for the approval of others. All of these characters are vainglorious. They don’t have pride…

Be Jesus for Others
Sometimes we imagine two extremes: people who follow rules without love, and others who talk about love without any truth or commitment. But Jesus gives us something completely different.
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus says, “This is my commandment: love one another.” Love isn’t just a feeling we fall into, it’s something we choose. It’s active. It’s sacrificial. It’s becoming like Jesus for the people around us.
That’s the challenge of the Christian life: not just to feel love, but to live it. To choose, again and again, to be Christ for others.
