Let’s talk about Thanos. Thanos is not a good guy. He basically destroys half of the universe. He has so many opportunities to change his heart, but his heart is so hardened that he is not able to. And that’s the downfall of Thanos, that his heart is so hardened that he can’t have a conversion. In the gospel for this Sunday, Jesus speaks and tells the parable about the man whose heart is completely hardened. Abraham says they would not be persuaded, even if someone was to rise from the dead. There are people in this world, whose hearts are so hardened, that they say no to the resurrection, that they say no to Jesus, that they say no to the most Holy Eucharist.
My invitation is to ask the Lord to begin to soften the parts of our hearts that are most hardened. When our hearts are malleable, we become like Jesus. Reject the Thanos from your life and embrace the Captain America, or choose your own superhero now.

Good Friday
At 3:00 p.m. today, my face will be on the floor. For Catholics, on Good Friday, the priest lays prostrate on the ground, representing Jesus giving his whole self, his whole body for us. It signifies total reverence and honor to our Lord, who gave everything. And what I love about our chapel at the Newman Center is that my head will be lying upon the Latin words “Dominum et vivificantem,” which means “The Lord, the giver of…

From Mud Pies to Beautiful Beaches
Guys, C.S. Lewis is such a stud. He is a champion and a man among men when it comes to the Christian faith. And he had a great quote, “We are like ignorant children. Completely happy and content playing with mud pies in the dirt when we have no idea what an invitation to the beach at the sea would be like.” Jesus is inviting us to live…

The Holy Name of Jesus
So, the coat of arms in my archdiocese is epic. It shows a phoenix, which is a symbol of resurrection. And on the chest of the phoenix is the IHS, which is the holy name of Jesus. And so, in the first reading for this Sunday, Saint Peter, our first pope, heals a man by the holy name of Jesus. He can heal because of his name because Jesus’ name is mighty. In the Old Testament…
