This Sunday’s gospel is incredible. It is Jesus Christ who is absolutely getting after it, saying to us that He has come to set the world on fire and how He wishes it was already blazing. I think a lot of the times we are not set on fire, or we forget that we have been given His love and given His Holy Spirit, that we walk around like zombies, and yet, we are called to be saints. Pope Benedict XVI said that the greatest way of evangelizing is through the saints, because in the midst of a saint, we’re absolutely attracted to Christ, and to be on fire, to be blazing, is to have the Holy Spirit that is so attractive that your friends, your family, they can look at you and they can say wow! They have something that I don’t have and I want that. And that is Jesus Christ.
This Sunday, ask for a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit that you can be the saints that you’re called to be, that you can set on fire, your friends and your family. Please set them on fire not literally, but with the Holy Spirit.

Easter Sunday
Happy Easter. He is risen. Jesus Christ is victorious over all sin and death, and we never have to be afraid again. Hallelujah. One of our students at the Newman Center created this artwork on our chalkboard, saying, A bunny will never love you like Jesus. And yes, it’s a little cheesy, but it is so true that we cling to so many other things than Jesus to make us happy. Jesus proved his love for us by dying and rising from the…

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus
There is a problem. And that problem is distracted walking. In 2022, thousands of people were injured, texting and walking simultaneously, more than a grizzly bear, shark, and alligator attacks all wrapped into one. In the gospel today, St. Peter himself is distracted by the storm. And when he is distracted by the storm and takes his eyes away from Jesus…

Love Your Body
Have you ever been at Mass and your eyes glaze over during the Creed? Well, don’t do that anymore. Especially the last part. I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, resurrection of the body. That is what the gospel is about. Today, Jesus is saying that our bodies will rise just…
