If you are a human being, you’ve probably used this phrase before, “I told you so.” I don’t use that phrase often, but it’s told to me a lot. In the gospel for this Sunday, Jesus has the perfect opportunity to say to Peter, “I told you so. Peter, I said you would deny me. I told you so.” Instead of rubbing Peter’s sins in his face, Jesus takes the worst moment in Peter’s life and redeems it into the most beautiful moment of his life, sharing with Jesus, “I love you” three times.
This is what Jesus does. He takes the worst of us, redeems it, and makes it a jewel in our crown for heaven. So whatever is the worst moment of your life, permit Jesus to heal it, redeem it, and make it into something good, accurate, and beautiful.

Don’t Hoard Your Gifts
This Sunday’s Gospel is about the rich man who accumulates all of this wealth. But he hoards them; he doesn’t give anything away. We are called as Christians to do the opposite. We have accumulated so many skills. The question is, do we hoard it or do we give it away in love? I think a great example of this is Eleven from Stranger Things…

The Visitation
Christmas is getting close, and I want to give you the gift of having your mind blown and your face melted. In the Old Testament, King David travels to the Hill Country of Judah for three months. Mary travels for three months in our gospel for this Sunday to the Hill Country of Judah. King David dances before the Lord in the Ark. The baby, John the Baptist, leaps into Elizabeth’s womb in the presence of…

A Commandment
When I was a kid, my mom would tell me very often, Tim, that those chores I told you to do were not a suggestion. Saying, I am your mother. Now, do it. Very similarly, in the gospel for the Sunday, Jesus gives us a commandment to love one another. This is a commandment that we are not given a suggestion. We are not given a philosophy. We are not given a soft ask that the Lord provides us with a commandment…
