Ebenezer Scrooge. Such a grouch, such a curmudgeon, such a grumpy source, Rex. And often, we see the Heavenly Father as an Ebenezer Scrooge figure. He is just waiting for us to make a mistake. He’s rolling his eyes, saying, I wish you were more virtuous. I want you to sin less often. In the gospel, Jesus turns it on its head and says, You have a good Father. What? A good father would not give good gifts to his children, for he desires us to live an incredible life with him. And not only does God give us good gifts, but he gives us the gift, which is the precious flesh and blood of his only begotten son.
Reject the idea of God being like Ebenezer Scrooge. He is our father, and he is good, and he will never leave us.

Adopted by God Through Baptism

Baptism is so awesome because no matter if you were baptized with just water gently poured on your head, or if you were fully immersed, or even if a fire hose was shot at you. When you are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you are adopted by God. Jesus, in the gospel for this Sunday, says…

Blessed Lent 2024
Okay, guys, this is it. It is happening. Lent 2024. It is finally here, and this will be the best lent ever for us. Jesus says in the gospel today, “Repent and believe in the gospel.” We are called to believe the gospel. CS Lewis, an absolute spiritual savage, said, “You should never believe anything unless you think it’s true.” And so the amazing reality is that…

Holy Saturday
Today, Holy Saturday is a bittersweet day. It’s bitter because we realize we killed God, but he’s coming. But it is sweet because Jesus reveals the lengths he will go for us. He’s willing to go even to death for us. He’s willing to go even to hell for us. Nothing can destroy that no place in the universe is out of reach for Jesus, that there is no sin that is out of reach for Jesus, that there is no place in your heart that is out of…
