Every time I read the Prodigal Son story, I get misty-eyed. My heart is leaking. It’s so beautiful because this passage reveals the absolute, incomparable love of the Father, which transcends reason. It transcends mathematics. It transcends politics. It transcends everything in the world. We cannot calculate it. We cannot understand it, but we can receive it. In the gospels, if Jesus were speaking to a hundred people, it wouldn’t be as if he would give 1% of his love to each of those a hundred people. He would give a hundred percent of his love to each person. And that’s the love that we get to receive. Let this incomparable, infinite love of the Father soak into your heart, and then love others with that radical love.

Adopted by God Through Baptism

When you are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you are adopted by God. Jesus, in the gospel for this Sunday, says…

Wisdom in Speaking
Have you ever won an argument against your grandma? Exactly. There’s a quiet wisdom in her you just can’t beat. Mother Teresa was the same, simple words, simple life, yet no one ever “won” a debate with her. Because real holiness isn’t something you argue with. It speaks for itself. This week’s reflection unpacks Jesus’ promise: “I will give you wisdom in speaking that your adversaries will be powerless to refute.” When we grow in holiness and ask Jesus for wisdom, the truth carries its own weight. And yes, still probably a bad idea to argue with your grandma.

The Ultimate Life Hack
Did Jesus tell us to cheat the system? Did he instruct us to falsify our tax returns? Did he give us financial advice like the mafia would? In the gospel for this Sunday. Jesus, of course, is not advocating fraud. But what Jesus is saying is that this dishonest steward was hustling, striving, putting in all this effort to make all this money. And the question is, are we hustling when it comes to Heaven? It’s easy…
