A few weeks ago, I walked by a literal fight between a Chicago Cubs fan and a Chicago White Sox fan, and it was incredible to see how convicted they were that their team was correct. We can easily be convicted of many things like that – sports, politics, or whether the toilet paper roll is over or under. It’s over. When it comes to saying grace in public or talking about Jesus to our friends, complete silence. In the Gospel today, Jesus clearly says, “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will acknowledge before the Father, and whoever denies me before others, I will deny before the Father.” Here is Jesus Christ yearning and desiring us to be convicted of him. Let this Sunday be the first moment we always acknowledge Jesus before others. He is the way. He is the truth. He is the life. There’s nothing more important than being convicted of Him.

Let Jesus Clean House
This happens in professional sports all of the time. A team is on a losing streak. The owner is not happy. And so the owner brings in a new coach to clean house. In this Sunday’s gospel, Jesus enters the temple and cleans house. He is not satisfied with his home being violated. The crazy thing is that we are also a home for Jesus. We also have a temple within our hearts for the…

Living in Unreality
Okay, so I just spent three hours playing Fortnite with another priest. And yes, we got some dubs. But afterward, I felt horrible after three hours of living in unreality that weighed on me. Whenever we are living away from the truth, that is further away from Jesus. And in the gospel for this Sunday, Pilate is also living in unreality. He knows that Jesus is innocent, yet he decides to live and act not in reality…

What Is The First Thing You Think Of?
When I say these phrases, what is the first thing that you think of that comes to mind? The first, “You’re a wizard, Harry.” Hopefully you thought of Hagrid from Harry Potter. The second, “Do not be afraid.” St. John Paul the Great, obviously, and the third, “We don’t talk about Bruno.” Encanto. You know there are a lot of phrases in our lives…
