Series on Fire Within by Fr. Thomas Dubay, S.M. (Part 7 of 8)
Solitude is not just quiet time for ourselves. It is not running from people, isolation, or hiding from or avoiding our problems by going off and being alone. But instead, it is avoiding certain behaviors, worldviews, curiosities, and distractions that take our focus on the Lord. According to Fr. Dubay, authentic solitude is the healthy turning towards one’s beloved. It is a faithful pursuit of the one we love, our beloved—a pursuit of the Lord with the desire to be in a relationship with Him.
This is the seventh episode of our Fire Within series, which talks about detachment and solitude—an encouragement to find and pursue authentic solitude and grow spiritually.
