So at the foot of the mountain of Assisi. There is a beautiful church called Saint Mary of the Angels. Inside the church is another very small church called the Portiuncula, which is where Saint Francis began his mission. He didn’t begin as one who was feeding the whole world. He was just a simple man who said yes in a very, very small, simple chapel.
The gospel for this Sunday is all about having faith the size of a mustard seed and then allowing Jesus’ grace to make us great, to erupt into our lives. But it has to begin in a small way. Just as Mary. Mary didn’t start out as queen of heaven and earth. Mary began by saying a very simple, yes. We are called to begin small, to say small yeses to the Lord so that Jesus’ grace can erupt in our lives. Let Jesus’ grace erupt in your life.
