Love is not pompous. There was a sick man on his bed. He warned the children, telling them that pompousness makes you empty. Because he remembered all the wealth he amassed, and he realized that the thing that gave him joy is not all this world. The only thing he remembers is the day he helped someone. That was his joy. The people who are now there because of the good relationship he had with them.
That was the joy. Being pompous because we have something doesn’t lead us anywhere, and he warns his children because it leads us but to emptiness. Remember, the Lord doesn’t say, don’t appreciate. He wants us to appreciate what he has given to us, so we have to praise him, glorify him, appreciate him, and don’t be pompous about it.
