Ever wonder where the Pope goes on vacation? Castel Gandolfo, a quiet, beautiful place where a statue of Our Lady points to her Immaculate Heart with the words cor meum vigilat: “My heart is ever vigilant”. As we enter the First Sunday of Advent, the Gospel calls us to that same posture: be prepared. We don’t know the day or the hour, but Mary shows us the best way to wait.
Her whole life was marked by trust. From Jesus’ childhood to His Passion, she remained vigilant, steady, and confident that the Father would take care of everything.
This Advent, we’re invited to wait like Mary, with a heart that’s watchful, calm, and full of trust in our Father.

In our marriage prep session, he said to his future wife that she is the treasure of all treasures, and he’s not trying to be a pirate or anything. What he’s trying to say to her is that beyond my parents, beyond my friends, beyond every single beautiful girl in the universe, I choose you first. That is truly radical, and that’s what we see in the gospel today…

Don’t Be Consumed By Wealth
Purple underwear. Say one that’s right in the gospel for the Sunday. This rich man may have been wearing purple underwear. Many scripture scholars have discussed this fine linen, highlighting the absolute extravagance of this rich man’s life. And the heartbreaking thing was the wealth consumed. I need it for us in our lives. Some things consume us that take us away from Jesus. Wealth in and of itself…

Easter Sunday
Happy Easter. He is risen. Jesus Christ is victorious over all sin and death, and we never have to be afraid again. Hallelujah. One of our students at the Newman Center created this artwork on our chalkboard, saying, A bunny will never love you like Jesus. And yes, it’s a little cheesy, but it is so true that we cling to so many other things than Jesus to make us happy. Jesus proved his love for us by dying and rising from the…
