So I just heard a man tell his future wife something crazy. In our marriage prep session, he said to his future wife that she is the treasure of all treasures, and he’s not trying to be a pirate or anything. What he’s trying to say to her is that beyond my parents, beyond my friends, beyond every single beautiful girl in the universe, I choose you first. That is truly radical, and that’s what we see in the gospel today. Jesus is inviting us to pick him first. Is Jesus the treasure among all treasures for me?
And so, that’s a question for today. Beyond family, beyond friends, beyond our job, do I choose Jesus first? So go entirely embrace Christianity, say yes to Jesus, and maybe be a pirate.

SEEK 2024
I get asked very often by people who are slightly older than me. “Father Tim, where are all the young people? They’re not coming to mass. They’re not growing in their relationship with the Lord. They don’t believe in anything.” A bit of that is valid, but most of it is false. Me and Spirit Juice and 24,000 of our closest friends were at a conference called SEEK, which was incredible. Twenty-four thousand young people…

Reject Isolation
At the end of Marvel’s “Infinity War,” Thanos sits alone on a planet alone. And you may think that it’s paradise, but it’s hell. In this Sunday’s gospel, Jesus says clearly, “What does it profit one if he gains the whole world “but loses his life? “Loses his soul?” Thanos gets everything he wants. He receives the Gauntlet. He gets the Infinity Stones. He wins the war…

He Is Actually Real
If you’re a Marvel fan, what would it be like if Iron Man was real? If you’re a Harry Potter fan, what would it be like if Hogwarts was real? If you’re a Pokemon fan, what would it be like if Snorlax was real? Now, imagine that you’re an Old Testament Jew. What would it be like to realize that the Messiah was real? That’s what you would be dreaming about. That the Messiah, the Son of God, is true and real. In the gospel for this Sunday…
