SpongeBob versus Patrick. We all know SpongeBob. We all know he actually has a lot of drive. He actually has a lot of vision. He wants to do something, and he gets after it.
Patrick, on the other hand, he has no vision. He lives under a rock. He doesn’t really do anything. That is how we can so often live as Catholics. We live as Patrick. We don’t have a vision for our spiritual life. We don’t have any drive to improve in our prayer life. Here is Jesus in today’s Sunday reading. Who builds something without having all the proper materials or who goes into battle without having the right amount of soldiers? We’re supposed to have vision. We’re supposed to prepare. And that is what Christ is calling us to.
To grow in our spiritual life, to grow in our prayer life, and to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ. What is the vision you want for your prayer life for next Sunday? And just go and do that thing. Be SpongeBob. Don’t be Patrick.

On Imaginative Prayer
Saint Ignatius of Loyola. He is a rockstar saint. He popularized something that is called imaginative prayer. We use our imagination to pray because God created our imagination to speak to us. That’s incredible! This Sunday’s Gospel is absolutely beautiful. It’s the Prodigal Son. Prodigal Son leaves the Father’s house, but he’s…

Love Mary Like I Love Harry Kane
We just had the World Series, and it was awesome. Please don’t tell the government, please don’t judge me, but I actually was rooting for the team of England. I was rooting for England, because my favorite soccer player of all time is Harry Kane. And in British English, it’s Harry Kane. I love Harry Kane. He is the striker of all strikers…
