So, our Newman Center just returned from our mission trip to Belize, which was unbelievable. But one of our students, who is just so awesome sauce, experienced something incredible when encountering the poor. She encountered Jesus. Not only did she encounter Jesus, but for the first time in her life, she loved how Jesus loved. In the gospel for this Sunday, we see Jesus’s heart burning on display, that his love is all powerful, all loving, all burning with a fiery passion but not consumed. And we are called to love with Jesus’ heart.
For this Sunday and the rest of the week, can we ask Jesus to lend us his heart so we can love as he loves? We see this perfect love on display in every crucifix. This is Spirit Juice. Peace.

Don’t Be Consumed By Wealth

Many scripture scholars have discussed this fine linen, highlighting the absolute extravagance of this rich man’s life. And the heartbreaking thing was the wealth consumed. I need it for us in our lives. Some things consume us that take us away from Jesus. Wealth in and of itself…

Let Jesus Clean House
This happens in professional sports all of the time. A team is on a losing streak. The owner is not happy. And so the owner brings in a new coach to clean house. In this Sunday’s gospel, Jesus enters the temple and cleans house. He is not satisfied with his home being violated. The crazy thing is that we are also a home for Jesus. We also have a temple within our hearts for the…

You might get the classics, the X marks the spot, the perfectionist, the Harry Potter, the NFL, the Picasso, or the Twinsie, or you could get the double wide. Whatever you receive, whatever is…
