Sometimes, I feel like Guy. If you’ve ever seen the movie, “Free Guy,” you know that Guy is living his life on the sidelines. He doesn’t really think his life is about him. But at one point, Guy realizes that the video game that he is in is his story and that he is the main character. And he gets after it. On this Palm Sunday, we hear the entire story of Jesus’s passion for us. A lot of the time, we feel like we are on the sidelines in this story. So my invitation for this Sunday is to take it seriously and know that this is not a story. This is your story. You’re not on the story’s sidelines because Jesus sees you in the midst of it, and you have a part to play in it.
Don’t be like Guy, take it personally. This is your story. This is Spirit Juice. Peace.

True Love Costs Something
Remember when Hiccup loses his leg in “How to Train Your Dragon”? It’s an emotional rollercoaster. The love that Hiccup has for his family and Toothless leads to him sacrificing one of his legs. Hiccup’s love costs something, and the gospel for this Sunday, Jesus, is very clear: it is easy to love when it’s easy to love, but real, true, authentic, Christ-centered love costs something. Are we just loving Jesus when it’s easy when…

Remembering Pope Francis
Several years ago, I got to meet Pope Francis. I didn’t have much time with him, so I asked him one question: “Holy Father, can you please pray for my sister and her future spouse, whoever that might be?” Two weeks later, my sister began to date her now husband, which is incredible. However, what struck me the most was how Pope Francis responded to me. He said, “I will, of course, pray for your sister, but I need…

Love Mary Like I Love Harry Kane
We just had the World Series, and it was awesome. Please don’t tell the government, please don’t judge me, but I actually was rooting for the team of England. I was rooting for England, because my favorite soccer player of all time is Harry Kane. And in British English, it’s Harry Kane. I love Harry Kane. He is the striker of all strikers…
