One of my students here at the Newman Center, he is crushing hard on a girl. He can barely sleep. He can barely eat. Sharing all of this with me, I just asked him simply, “Have you seen any reciprocation on her part? Do you think she likes you?” And he responded very honestly, “Uh, I haven’t even hung out with her yet.”
Okay, so here we go. This is the first step. You need to show this girl your desires. You need to be able to have a conversation with her. In the Gospel for this Sunday – very appropriately – Jesus is speaking in the same way to us, “Seek and you will find, ask and you will receive, knock and the door will be opened to you.” That is our Lord. That we can actually say to Him in our prayers what we are seeking, what are we desiring. When was the last time that you actually shared your desires with the Lord? This Sunday, just go share with Him your desires. Go do it. Seriously. Now.

Anything Good Leads to Jesus
In the 1600s in Europe, European Christians saw coffee coming from the Middle East and immediately labeled coffee as “the devil’s drink.” But the Pope at the time, Pope Clement VII, wanted to try this drink, so a barista made him a delicious cup of coffee, and the Pope said, “This devil’s drink is delicious. Let’s baptize it and make it our own.” And the rest is history. Europe is known for…

Adopted by God Through Baptism
I had the amazing honor of baptizing my friend’s newborn. Baptism is so awesome because no matter if you were baptized with just water gently poured on your head, or if you were fully immersed, or even if a fire hose was shot at you. When you are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, you are adopted by God. Jesus, in the gospel for this Sunday, says…

The Visitation
Christmas is getting close, and I want to give you the gift of having your mind blown and your face melted. In the Old Testament, King David travels to the Hill Country of Judah for three months. Mary travels for three months in our gospel for this Sunday to the Hill Country of Judah. King David dances before the Lord in the Ark. The baby, John the Baptist, leaps into Elizabeth’s womb in the presence of…
