So, the latest Terminator movie was set for the future in 2024. It was predicted that by 2024, artificial intelligence would take over the world. Well, we are now past 2024. It is a new year, and AI hasn’t conquered us yet. But we always fear that we have no clue what will happen in this new year. Crazy things may happen, heartbreaking things may happen, amazing things may happen, but guess what? Jesus stays the same. No matter what happens this year, Jesus always remains the same. The order of the Carthusian monks has a motto and slogan: “The cross stays while the world turns.” Jesus is always our constant, no matter what is happening. He never changes. He is always with you. Six Words To Describe Jesus
If you had to describe Jesus in six words or less, what would you say? In this Sunday’s Gospel, John the Baptist does exactly that. At the beginning, he calls Jesus the Lamb of God. At the end, he proclaims Him the Son of God. In just six words, John reveals everything: Jesus is equal with the Father, eternal, Lord, and King and at the same time the sacrifice who saves us. Fully divine. Fully given. That leaves us with one essential question: Who do you say that Jesus is?
