Ebenezer Scrooge. Such a grouch, such a curmudgeon, such a grumpy source, Rex. And often, we see the Heavenly Father as an Ebenezer Scrooge figure. He is just waiting for us to make a mistake. He’s rolling his eyes, saying, I wish you were more virtuous. I want you to sin less often. In the gospel, Jesus turns it on its head and says, You have a good Father. What? A good father would not give good gifts to his children, for he desires us to live an incredible life with him. And not only does God give us good gifts, but he gives us the gift, which is the precious flesh and blood of his only begotten son.
Reject the idea of God being like Ebenezer Scrooge. He is our father, and he is good, and he will never leave us.

However, what struck me the most was how Pope Francis responded to me. He said, “I will, of course, pray for your sister, but I need…

Have You Been Friends With Jesus?
‘Tis the season for gingerbread lattes, candy canes, and watching “Die Hard.” It’s a Christmas movie. Today, we celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent, which is crazy because tomorrow is Christmas. Very rarely in the church calendar, this happens, where Christmas falls right after the fourth Sunday of Advent, and I love it when this happens because it always makes me realize that whenever I’m not…

We Have A Savior
You may have noticed before on a street corner, on a college campus, or at a sports game, someone holding up a big sign that says, “John 3:16.” Well, that’s our gospel for this Sunday. We all know this gospel. “For God’s so loved the world that he gave his only son.” This is the ultimate mic drop that the entirety of the gospels is rolled up into this one passage…
