The Gospel for this Sunday is all about the judge. You know who is a bad judge? Scarecrow from “The Dark Knight Rises.” Scarecrow is one of the villains who presides over a kangaroo court, condemning the aristocracy to death. And he gives them two options, either death or exile.
And both of those options lead to death. And I’m sure all of us have experienced some time in our life that we may have been judged unjustly. And so we can get this in our mind that God is like that, too. That all God wants to do is point out our flaws. And waiting for us to fail. He’s waiting for us to mess up. Jesus reveals that the Father in heaven is a just judge. We can have trust in the Father being a good judge. God is not only a just judge, but He is a merciful father. That is all the confidence I need and all the confidence you need to rely on Him and trust in the Father who loves us.

Holy Thursday
I am about to wash the feet of 12 of my students because it is Holy Thursday. Jesus, on this day, gives us the priesthood. He gives us the Eucharist and reminds us that he lowers himself. For us, this is so radical that we are called as Christians to lower ourselves. This is the secret of the saints. They always said I’m the worst of us. I am the greatest sinner of all of us. They realized that they needed Jesus, and they wanted to…

Strive To Be A Saint
Saint Therese of Lisieux. She lived till the age of 24. She lived most of her life in a convent in the suburbs of France. She is considered one of the most ambitious saints the church has ever seen because Saint Therese desired to be a saint from the depths of her heart. And we are called to have that holy ambition as well. In the gospel…

The King of the Universe
Man, I’m pumped. Today is the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Sounds like something from Dr. Strange. And then in the Gospel today, the good thief says, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” That we have a kingdom, that we have a king. We don’t have a king that wears a golden…
