Girding your loins 101. Number one, be a bro from the ancient world wearing your tunic. Number two, take the bottom of your tunic and tuck it into your belt. Number three, create an ancient cargo short feature, and now you are ready to go. You’re prepared to lift heavy things, to go for a nice run. You are prepared to do battle. When Jesus says, “gird your loins” in the gospel, he is saying, “be in the position to be prepared. Be in the position to fight for me.” This is the incredible news. Jesus gives us vigilant hearts. He provides us with ready hearts. What it means to be a disciple is to be prepared, to be watchful, to be able to go out and fight and do battle. Before there was Lululemon, before there was On Cloud, before there was even elastic, we had girding your loins. So, go out, be prepared, be vigilant, gird your loins.

What If
Let’s play the what-if game. In the gospel for the Sunday, what if Peter left Jesus? We wouldn’t have the Eucharist. We wouldn’t have a pope. We wouldn’t have the Catholic Church. We wouldn’t have the sacraments. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift would never have met. But seriously, Jesus Christ stakes everything, all of salvation, on the mere chance that Peter would say yes and stay with Him. That’s how important…

It’s True
Did you know that the sun is 400 times larger than the moon? It may not look like it, but it’s true. Did you know that a typical cloud in the sky weighs 1.1 million pounds? It may not look like it, but it’s true. Did you know that Jesus is Lord and God to his people as he is dying on the cross? It may not look like it, but it’s true. And in the gospel for the Sunday, Jesus Christ gives us his flesh to eat, his blood to drink…

15 Days from Easter
Guys, we are 15 days away from Easter. Fifteen days is not a long time, and it takes 15 days to walk from New York to Florida and 15 days to watch all of the episodes and seasons of “The Bachelor.” Side note, if you watch “The Bachelor,” stop and go to confession. In the Gospel today, we have a foreshadowing of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and…
