So, at the end of your life, you get to the gates of heaven, and the person guarding the gates of heaven, either St. Peter or Morgan Freeman, asks you, “Why should I let you into heaven?” And we could have so many answers, like ” because I’m awesome,” ” because I gave much money to the poor,” ” because I went to mass every Sunday,” or “I’m not Voldemort.”
We can give many good answers, but none of them are the correct answer. The only correct answer is Jesus. In the gospel for this Sunday, it is asked to Jesus, “What must I do to get into heaven?” And Jesus’ answer is basically threefold. The first is to follow God’s law. The second is to eliminate anything in your life that is more important than Jesus. And then the third is, “Come and follow me.” We must do this to gain eternal life, keeping Jesus at the center of everything. What do you have to do to get into heaven? Jesus Christ. Set Them On Fire
This Sunday’s gospel is incredible. It is Jesus Christ who is absolutely getting after it, saying to us that He has come to set the world on fire and how He wishes it was already blazing. I think a lot of the times we are not set on fire, or we forget that we have been given His love and given His Holy Spirit, that we walk around like zombies…

Girding Your Loins
Girding your loins 101. Number one, be a bro from the ancient world wearing your tunic. Number two, take the bottom of your tunic and tuck it into your belt. Number three, create an ancient cargo short feature, and now you are ready to go. You’re prepared to lift heavy things, to go for a nice run. You are prepared to do battle. When Jesus says, “gird your loins” in the gospel, he is saying, “be in the position to be…

The King of the Universe
Man, I’m pumped. Today is the Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Sounds like something from Dr. Strange. And then in the Gospel today, the good thief says, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” That we have a kingdom, that we have a king. We don’t have a king that wears a golden…
