So, at the end of your life, you get to the gates of heaven, and the person guarding the gates of heaven, either St. Peter or Morgan Freeman, asks you, “Why should I let you into heaven?” And we could have so many answers, like ” because I’m awesome,” ” because I gave much money to the poor,” ” because I went to mass every Sunday,” or “I’m not Voldemort.”
We can give many good answers, but none of them are the correct answer. The only correct answer is Jesus. In the gospel for this Sunday, it is asked to Jesus, “What must I do to get into heaven?” And Jesus’ answer is basically threefold. The first is to follow God’s law. The second is to eliminate anything in your life that is more important than Jesus. And then the third is, “Come and follow me.” We must do this to gain eternal life, keeping Jesus at the center of everything. What do you have to do to get into heaven? Jesus Christ. From Mud Pies to Beautiful Beaches
Guys, C.S. Lewis is such a stud. He is a champion and a man among men when it comes to the Christian faith. And he had a great quote, “We are like ignorant children. Completely happy and content playing with mud pies in the dirt when we have no idea what an invitation to the beach at the sea would be like.” Jesus is inviting us to live…

True Love Costs Something
Remember when Hiccup loses his leg in “How to Train Your Dragon”? It’s an emotional rollercoaster. The love that Hiccup has for his family and Toothless leads to him sacrificing one of his legs. Hiccup’s love costs something, and the gospel for this Sunday, Jesus, is very clear: it is easy to love when it’s easy to love, but real, true, authentic, Christ-centered love costs something. Are we just loving Jesus when it’s easy when…
