So, were you aware that the new pope is an art critic? Pope Leo XIV, in his first-ever Wednesday audience, used a painting from Van Gogh called “Sower at Sunset.” In this painting, Pope Leo explains that the sower, the one who plants the seeds, is not the focal point of the painting. The focal point of the painting is the sun. It is the sun that produces the fruit. It is the sun that creates the life. And that is our relationship with God. We are called to toil, to work, to labor, to plant seeds, but it is God that produces the fruit. It is God who brings about the life. It is God who brings meaning to our work. You no longer have to worry about success or failure in your work. We must make God the focal point of our lives.

Life or Death

In the gospel for this Sunday, Saint John the Baptist says that he will baptize with water, but Christ will baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit. Fire represents life, but it also represents death. Same with water. When the Israelites went through the Red Sea, water was life-giving. The Egyptians went through the same Red Sea, and…

What will you be known for? In the Gospel today, Jesus clearly states that He wants us to love Him first and then love everyone and everything after Him. When we put Jesus…

Truly, Interiorly, Fulfilled
So, when I was a senior in college, I got offered a job with the FBI. And I remember when that moment happened, I felt interiorly so empty, which is crazy because here’s what the world is saying. This will make you happy. This will make you fulfilled. It felt empty at the time because I knew the Lord was calling me to something else. He was calling me to something that would…
