Like this message if you have ever messed up or failed, and then someone accused you for it. Accusation hurts. It unlocks shame in our hearts. And that is one thing not present in this Sunday’s first reading. In Genesis, Adam fails. And so, right after Adam’s sins, what does God do? He asks one symbol question, “Where are you?” He does not accuse. He does not say, “Well, I knew you were going to mess up at some point.” He is trying to get close to Adam.
In the midst of our sins, in the midst of falling flat on our faces, what does God do? He runs after us. He is not content with us being far away. He wants to draw us close. This is the God that I want to follow. This is the God that I want to die for. We never have to fear accusation again because we have a God who does not accuse; he pursues. This is Spirit Juice. Peace.

He is not a fun person to be around. The thing is, we can do that as well. We are so attracted to negativity. We’re drawn to crazy comments on social media…

A Commandment
When I was a kid, my mom would tell me very often, Tim, that those chores I told you to do were not a suggestion. Saying, I am your mother. Now, do it. Very similarly, in the gospel for the Sunday, Jesus gives us a commandment to love one another. This is a commandment that we are not given a suggestion. We are not given a philosophy. We are not given a soft ask that the Lord provides us with a commandment…

Infinite Incomparable Love
Every time I read the Prodigal Son story, I get misty-eyed. My heart is leaking. It’s so beautiful because this passage reveals the absolute, incomparable love of the Father, which transcends reason. It transcends mathematics. It transcends politics. It transcends everything in the world. We cannot calculate it. We cannot understand it, but we can receive it. In the gospels, if Jesus were speaking to a hundred…
