When I was a kid, my mom would tell me very often, Tim, that those chores I told you to do were not a suggestion. Saying, I am your mother. Now, do it. Very similarly, in the gospel for the Sunday, Jesus gives us a commandment to love one another. This is a commandment that we are not given a suggestion. We are not given a philosophy. We are not given a soft ask that the Lord provides us with a commandment. And no matter if you are a kid, no matter if you are a teacher, a business person, a butcher, or a baker, no matter if you are being persecuted for your faith, the commandment is the same. Go and love, love one another. Pour yourself out in love
This is a commandment, not a suggestion. It is a mandate from our king.

Jesus’ Second Coming
Okay, so it is time to build those fallout shelters. It is time to build those panic rooms. It is time to hoard that toilet paper because the world’s end is coming. In all of the readings, this is what Jesus is talking about. He’s talking about the world’s end for Jesus’s second coming. And the fantastic thing is we don’t have to be afraid. Jesus first came in humility, poverty, and weakness, coming in a manger…

Life or Death
Let’s talk about fire and water, and I’m not talking about the Pokemon types. In the gospel for this Sunday, Saint John the Baptist says that he will baptize with water, but Christ will baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit. Fire represents life, but it also represents death. Same with water. When the Israelites went through the Red Sea, water was life-giving. The Egyptians went through the same Red Sea, and…

Trinity Sunday
“My Life with the Walter Boys,” “Vampire Diaries,” “Twilight,” “Stranger Things,” and “Outer Banks,” what do all of these things have in common? Love triangles. And not the most wholesome love triangles. Today, we celebrate the solemnity of the most blessed Trinity, the most perfect, epic love triangle, the love relationship between the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is what…
