Once used to describe a specific type of bomb from World War II, the term “blockbuster” is now a tag applied to a Hollywood movie that’s made with: a large budget, big stars, heavy promotion, and ending as a highly profitable and successful venture for the film studio.
Not all are created equal, though, as our informal focus group rates which of the four widely-hyped and widely-released films of the summer will fare to the viewing public. Cheese Pizza Challenge
Picking up where our previous Fish Sandwich Challenge left off, we brought together an informal focus group to taste test standard cheese pizza from a handful of major chains to rate which was the better option during Lent, a time when Catholics choose to abstain from eating red meat on Fridays. Fish Sandwich Challenge
From the Norsemen braving the icy northern waters to Christopher Columbus accidentally stumbling into the Caribbean, the ocean has struck fear and apprehension into the heart of man. A comparable feeling of reluctance often accompanies something else from the sea: fast food fish sandwiches.
McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish — created for Catholics abstaining from meat during Lent — started the fad in 1962. Since that initial promotion, most fast food chains have jumped on the bandwagon and introduced a Lent-approved fish sandwich. But are they any good? “Fast food fish” doesn’t sound seaworthy on paper. We decided to taste test fish sandwiches from a handful of major chains to find out which fill our sails, and which ones deserve a keelhauling.
