Vive Jesus El Señor
Amanda Vernon is a recording artist who speaks to authentic beauty through music, the language of the soul. We were fortunate to have her share her talents on an original rendition of the classic hymn “Vive Jesus el Señor”. Translated into English as “Live Jesus, the Lord”, the song was composed by Belgian priest Fr. Lucas Casaert, a well-known missionary who has served in Bolivia for 50 years.
The Gil Hodges Story | Soul of a Champion
Spirit Juice is proud to present a documentary on the incredible career and inspiring life of Gil Hodges, a baseball legend who was one of the greatest first basemen to play the game. He helped win world championships as a player for the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and also as manager of the 1969 New York “Miracle Mets.” But despite all his impressive baseball statistics, accolades, and humble example of leadership off the field, Gil Hodges is not enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
Were You There, When They Crucified My Lord?
“Were You There (When They Crucified My Lord)” is an American spiritual that was first printed in 1899.
“Were You There” was likely composed by African-American slaves in the 19th century. It was first published in William Eleazar Barton’s 1899 Old Plantation Hymns. In 1940, it was included in the Episcopal Church hymnal, making it the first spiritual to be included in any major American hymnal. As reported in Howard Thurman’s autobiography, the song was one of Mahatma Gandhi’s favorites. The song has been recorded by artists including Marion Williams, Johnny Cash, Phil Keaggy, Max Roach, Diamanda Galás, Harry Belafonte, The Seldom Scene, Diamond Version (with Neil Tennant), Bayard Rustin, and Rajaton.
Jesus, Remember Me
“Jesus, Remember Me” is a Christian hymn written by Jacques Berthier (June 1923 – June 1994), a French composer of liturgical music, best known for writing much of the music used at Taizé. This particular performance features the talents of Hannah Martin.
Fr. Pontifex – Invasion of the Light
Over a year in the works, our team is proud to present “Invasion of the Light”, a music video featuring Fr. Pontifex. The presence of the Eucharist within the video emphasizes the strong contrast between authentic beauty from Jesus and the desolation of modern culture. The light found in the wasteland shows there is hope, even in the most grim of area or circumstances. “Invasion of the Light” is the first single from Fr. Pontifex’s album, Letters from the Wasteland.
Can You Receive Communion with Mortal Sin?
Should you receive Communion if you’re not sure you’re in mortal sin?
This question has confused a lot of people, and for good reason. In this episode, Father Tim clears up the tension between two things we often hear: “never let sin keep you from Communion” and “never receive in mortal sin.”
The Church teaches that the Eucharist is medicine for the sick—but not for the spiritually dead. Mortal sin is serious: it involves grave matter, full knowledge, and full consent, and it breaks our relationship with God. That’s why we’re invited to go to Confession before receiving Communion again.
But there’s also real encouragement here. If you’re unsure, if you’re trying to follow God, if your heart is seeking Him, Jesus meets you there. And if you’re in a place where you choose not to receive yet, that act of reverence and honesty matters more than you think.
The Eucharist is powerful. So we approach it with both hunger and honesty.
Wherever you are right now, God’s mercy is ready for you.
