If the Vatican has so much art, gold, and beauty, why not sell it all and give the money to the poor?
It’s a fair question, and one people ask all the time. In this episode of Ask A Priest, Father Tim explains what would actually happen if the Church sold off its sacred art, churches, museums, and treasures.
Drawing from his experience seeing a priceless Caravaggio painting in a Roman church, standing next to people from every walk of life, Father Tim shows how the Church has always made beauty available to everyone, not just the wealthy. Catholic churches have long been places where the poor, the rich, the traveler, and the local can all encounter beauty that lifts the soul to God.
But the answer goes even deeper. Selling everything would not simply “solve poverty”. It could privatize sacred beauty, weaken Catholic charitable infrastructure, destabilize education and healthcare in vulnerable parts of the world, and reinforce the idea that only “useful” things matter.
The Catholic Church doesn’t just talk about charity. It has institutionalized charity through hospitals, schools, orphanages, shelters, food pantries, refugee care, and relief work around the world. Beauty matters. Charity matters. And the Church is called to protect both.

Palm Sunday (Holy Week Retreat)
Ever feel like you have to prove your worth, or stand out just to matter?
In this Palm Sunday reflection, Father Tim connects our modern desire to be “unique” or successful, like a rare startup unicorn, with something deeper in the human heart: the desire to be seen, valued, and to belong.
But the Passion of Jesus reveals a different truth. Your worth isn’t something you have to create or earn. It’s already been given to you. Your value is the Cross. Your identity is found in Him.
You don’t have to invent your worth. Jesus already showed it. This Palm Sunday, don’t just hear the Passion, take it personally.

Can You Confess Your Sins Over FaceTime?
Can you confess your sins over FaceTime, a phone call, or a text message?
In this episode of Ask A Priest, Father Tim explains the crucial difference between confessing sins and receiving absolution. While you can tell your sins to anyone, the sacrament of confession requires physical presence because the sacraments are tangible encounters with Jesus Himself.
From Jesus healing with touch, to showing His wounds after the Resurrection, to forgiving sins through the priest. Catholic faith is earthly, physical, and real.
God doesn’t want to stay distant. He wants to be close, really close.
