This Sunday’s Gospel is about the rich man who accumulates all of this wealth. But he hoards them; he doesn’t give anything away. We are called as Christians to do the opposite. We have accumulated so many skills. The question is, do we hoard it or do we give it away in love?
I think a great example of this is Eleven from Stranger Things. Eleven is one of the main characters who has an amazing gift of moving things with her mind, being able to read people’s thoughts, and go to different places where other people are. But she doesn’t actually hoard them. She doesn’t use them for herself. Eleven always uses her gifts to serve her friends.
So my invitation for this Sunday is to recognize what are we hoarding and what do we need to be able to give away in love like Jesus gave. Just don’t hoard things. Give them away. Except Bitcoin. You should hoard Bitcoin. Other than that, give everything away.
